I have tried xcopy, xcopy platinum and a couple others and have found the combination of AnyDVD & Clone to work great and are very user friendly. I'm a newbie to this and I didn't have a lot of problems and made a perfect copy the first time. I recommend it very highly.

dtamayo All you need is AnyDvd and Nero and you will be able to backup your dvds. First, uninstall Dvd Shrink and Dvd Decrypter you don't need them leave Nero alone. Put your disc in and wait a minute or two for Anydvd to load. Then click Start(on taskbar) Programs, Nero, Nero Vision Express 3, Nero Recode. This is way I do all my backups including Bewitched. No problems at all.

I agree with the other comments here. This software rips and burns any dvd, and the quality is excellent. I tried several programs that allege to do the same, but they don't. AnyDVD with CloneDVD2 is an outstanding, and very reasonably priced bundle. Try before you buy. But if you're like me, you'll try and decide to buy long before the 30 day trial expires.

AnyDVD remains the "best of the best". Does Sony change the Arccos protection scheme with each new release? It seems as though AnyDVD needs to be fine tuned after each new Sony/Columbia title comes out.

For some reason that I can't explain but like, ever since I installed AnyDVD 5.6.1.1 DVD Shrink encryptes faster. Don't know if there's a connection but I'm not complaining.

Does anyone have a list created out there of problematic DVD's? From personal use I have only had problems with Madagascar, Hitch and The Forgotten. A list would be helpful so I can back them up before the trial expires. Thanks marvin20-I'm not sure if you are backing up the entire movie (menus, movie, extras, etc) or just the movie file. I just do the movie file under reauthoring and have crisp movies everytime. If it loops try cleaning the disc as that was the only cause for my "looping" problem.

I also tried to copy Madagascar numerous times using AnyDVD and DVDShrink and also can't get it to work. It stops at about 39% encrypting and gives an error message that it can't read the source file (Drive E:), that there is a recurring loop. Can any one help with this. I have it set up for automatic shrinking (DVD Shrink) should I try it manually, since I have to remove at least one of the audio files (French) to get it within the specified file size limit.

I've tried to copy madagascar 3 times using dvd decrypter (with anydvd) running on the bottom. It decrypts it with a pause at vts._08 and then picks up speed again, announcing at the end that it was successful. Then when I try to shrink it with dvdshrink, it says that there is a problem with vts_08, and it won't let me shrink it. Any suggestions? Thx!

I have only used this for a few previously problematic movies (Forgotten, Hitch, Madagascar..) but with this running DVD Shrink ran like it has for every other movie I backed-up. Kudos to the creators of AnyDVD v5.5.3.1

used this with DVD shrink to save madagascar and it worked great. DVD43 wouldn't work with DVD decripter to remove the bad sector. How much is it to buy?

(In reference to DVDGUY84) I was able to burn Bewitched with Any DVD and 1click DVD. I did the update today and was unable to burn American Graffiti, so I removed Any DVD and re-installed it and it worked fine.

simply the BEST DVD DECODING SOFTWARE ON THE MARKET. MONEY VERY WELL SPENT. THE BEST PIECE OF SOFTWARE YOU COULD OWN. I HAVE TRIED ALL DECRYPTERS AND NOTHING REMOTELY COMPARES TO ANY DVD. Right now I am in my 1st 24 hours of the trial of this software. So far, it seems pretty nice. Does not seem to be causing any software confliction issues (at least not yet that I can tell). My only problem is whenever I put any disk in, after it gets started my screen goes blank for a second and my desktop is off-centered. I will ask the company about that issue. If I can get that fixed, I will update my rating to a 5-star. But even with that glich, after utilizing MANY OTHER programs, this ones seems pretty good so far.

i have used the original dvdxcopy from 321 studios and numerous free decrypters and none, absolutely none of them can stand up to Anydvd. others have mentioned "the forgotten","man of the house","hitch", just to name a few as being problematic, but i have absolutely no complaints and no bad burns. in addition i paid only $29.00 after using the coupon from afterdawn.com. Anydvd = worth more.

I have been using AnyDVD for a couple of years now and in my opinion it's the best copy protection remover I have ever used and I have tried many. Most programs will work for the most part but every so often they won't work on a certian DVD so you have to try another product to crack the copy protection. To me that is a real pain. With AnyDVD I have not found one DVD movie that it could not remove the copy protection from. For $40.00 it's a steal, it works everytime and free updates for life!!! It don't get any better then that.

Would suggest you get (for Free) DVD43 from www.dvd43.com and use it with a DVD burning software (Nero, Roxio, etc) and send a donation to the DVD43 folks instead. AnyDVD is marginal at best and too expensive for what it does at worst. But if you get AnyDVD and your system is sound, it should do the job for you...

Had a prob using shrink as it keep giving me CRC errors while trying to rip XXX-2. Ran AnyDVD and it ran quietly and removed all encryption allowing me to get a clean copy without any errors. Burning was also a snap. This should be picked up before they are shut down.

AnyDvd is in my opion the best $39.00 software out there now, and they stay on top of it aswell. Hasn't let me down one yet, all recent movie's not a problem. Also if you use AnyDvd with DVDShrink and DVDDecypter you shouldn't have to burn to your HD First.......... Keep up the good work SLYSOFT...............

Well after seeing this around for some time, I finally decided to experiment with it. I downloaded the 21 day demo and here's the breakdown: movie experimented with: (recently new release) Hide and Seek (with Robert DeNiro and Dakota Fanning) -Installed AnyDVD without a hitch -It sat quietly, in memory, and waited for a DVD to be inserted -Performed 'on the fly' requiring no programs to be run, or for me to sit waiting for it to complete it's task I figured that the 'ultimate' test would be to see if you really could 'drag and drop' from the DVD right to a desktop folder and have a viewable movie. As you know, normally this won't work due to the CSS (et al) resulting in a srambled video and, in my experience, crashing the viewer software. After the file transfer I deactivated AnyDVD to insure that it wouldn't intercept the video from my 'new folder' which was containing the dragged files. The results? Worked as advertised. Power DVD5 played the HDD folder perfectly, as perfectly as my origional DVD. I was actually pretty impressed with this 'drag and drop' trick. Of course for someone wishing to remove the extras, menus, DVD9 to DVD5, or split a movie across two DVD5's extra steps (and software) will be required. But for someone who just wants to make a 1:1 DVD9 backup, or place the complete DVD9 into a personal media server, this program works as advertised. Is it worth the $39 bucks? Well thats a personal choice. I prefer to use freeware when it does what buyware does. And for what my interests are (placing an exact 1:1 ISO into a home media server to interact with my HTPC and projector-- kind of like a DVD 'jukebox') DVD Decrypter has never failed me, even on the 'problem' discs (probably cause I dont do nothing but 1:1 ISO backups). But I can definately see the benefits of this program to others in the communtiy.

It does a great job removing css protection and region coding from any DVD. Unfortunately once you removed the DVD from your drive it keeps popping up an error message that there is no DVD in the drive. No matter which of the 3 selections you click the same message appears seconds later. I tried without any succes in fixing that problem. It finally bugged me so much that I switched to DVD CSS Region Free which does the same thing without the annoying eternally repeating error window.

@ ecooleye These messages are normal. There is no error. Some (very new) DVDs have extra protections based on bad sectors (arccoss, puppetlock, etc.). When anyDVD find these protections you get such messages in the info box. 'found&removed' means that anyDVD hast identified such protections and repairs them on-the-fly. So everything is okay.

I have to say that I'm new to this whole burning thing as well as this site. However, I'm quite addicted to the info and advice given here. I recently tried to use AnyDVD 5.2.4.1. It worked great on my copy of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, as well as my recent addition to my collection, Be Cool. I didn't have any success with my Hitch DVD. I noticed a strange "error"? (see below) on the Info box that pops up when you click on the active icons next to the clock. --------- Summary for drive E: Drive (Hardware) Region: 1 Media is a Data DVD. Booktype: dvd-rom (version 1), Layers: 2 (opposite) Video DVD (or CD) label: HITCH Media is CSS protected! Video Standard: NTSC Media is locked to region(s): 1! Found & removed RCE protection! Found & removed wrong DVD structure! Found & removed structural copy protection (Arccos, Puppetlock)! Autorun not found on Video DVD. Found & removed 2 bad sector protections! Emulating RPC-2 drive with region 1! --------- Found & removed wrong DVD structure! <---That doesn't seem to be a "normal" message. Does anyone have any clues as to what might have caused this error? I've tried this particular movie time and time again. Still I receive that same error.

I would be very hesitant to download something that claims to be newer then the version on their website. Esp since some companies have been known to toss spyware into freeware software.

I use DVD43 and AnyDVD. The latter has proven to be the better of the two, in my opinion. Occassionally, I come across a movie AnyDVD has problems with, but it's very rare, i.e. The Incredibles (used DVD43). Otherwise it, along with CloneDVD2, DVD Decrypter, DVD Shrink and DVD XCopy Xpress, has been an almost priceless tool. Consider yourself at a disadvantage without AnyDVD!

AnyDVD is just awesome. Easy to use. You don't even know it's running. Just familiarize yourself with simple set up by right clicking for additional information for knowlege purposes if you want to. I purchased this program to support the auth and to get continuous improvements.

The 4.5.8.1 version will allow you to rip newer dvds such as "Forgotten" etc, which DVDShrink 3.2 weren't able to copy (so I did research after DVDShrink failed, and found AnyDVD). I tried it and I works with that movie I mentioned above. Give AnyDVD a try. It's a very good software worth the $.

I love free software. I like and use Shrink and DVD Decrypter. However, I have now problem paying for good software either and think AnyDVD is awesome. I mainly use AnyDVD with Clone DVD 2 but it works great with all of the free and pay software I use.

I also tried AnyDVD with DVD X-Copy Platium RF and it didn't work. Nada,zip no help at all. The copy guard still locked up the DVD player while it was copying to the hardrive.

I have DVDXcopy Platinum RF and ANYDVD v4.5.7.1 and it doesn't backup Forgotten. Maybe other rippers work with AnyDVD but not Platinum.

I only use this software in conjunction with DvdShrink for the new Arccos/Puppetlock protection -- found on the latest Sony/Columbia releases. I would not recommend purchasing this product. Why? It's functionality does not warrant the outlay of $40.00. Besides, all one has to do is reinstall it at the end of the 21 day trial period if they want to continue using it.

Yep it tells ya its a free trial, but it is a great combo package and yes there are free versions out there, but this is the fastest burning setup I have found. Yesterday with both of slysoft new versions including many others I got an "redundantcy message" on a vob file, no scratches caused it.

Great program and great support! Have had only one minor problem with the new feature "Show Information" when second user on PC logs in and tries to copy music. To date the program has copied every DVD and CD without a glitch. Thanks for a great program and great support.

I recently d/l the trial version of anydvd cause i was having problems backing up the movie " little black book " using dvdxcopy platinum. - i let the movie play for 3 min. then started the program - i got all the way up to 55% b4 the program locked up-now w/ out the trial version of anydvd i got only up to 12% - dont know what im doing wrong-also im running xp which shouldnt matter - any help would b appreciated

SlySoft did an excellent job. AnyDVD cracks every DVD protection in the background without any compatibility problems. I highly recommend AnyDVD to use in conjunction with CloneDVD (the original version from Elby, also available from SlySoft).

Absolutely FABULOUS software. Not only does it actually work as advertised, it's decrypting engine is way faster than DVD Shrink. Lower CPU usage too. I've been able to rip DVDs that I couldn't back up until now. THANK YOU!

I've been using AnyDVD with CloneDVD for several months now. I haven't use DVDdecrypter or XCOPY Platinum since. It's is the best and easiest combo I have ever used. AnyDVD loads automatically and runs behind the scenes, just start CloneDVD. I have not had a single problem with them. It still writes to the hard drive so if your media is bad (and there is plenty of junk media out there), you can still make another backup. Also, it can backup an XCOPY disk without the warning. And by the way, I use XP Pro w/SP2 and have had no problems. The money is very well spent,

I use the term "Excellent" loosely for this release (i.e. 3822). If you are currently running Windows XP Pro SP2 this newest version will not start-up on XP SP2. For some unknown reason; a window pops up when launched stating "Bug Error Detected" with alot of "Garble" (eg. 1255478500R1245). I have notified the manufacturer of this matter and awaiting a reply. Other than that; The programs always done me right...No complaints prior to 3822

This is the best softwar ever to use with such a Clone DVD1 or 2.It's amazing how this tiny softwar work!...it just sit there in your registry and doing its job without disturb anyone.
