Free DVD v1.0

Free DVD removes several protections from a DVD folder on the hard disk. It removes region code (RC), region code enhancement (RCE), analog copy protection (Macrovision), and user operation prohibitions (UOPs). You can use it to get a free DVD before you burn the DVD folder. Size is only 44K.

On 1st of January, 2006, a new copyright legislation came into force in Finland that made it illegal to distribute tools that allow circumvention of technical copy protections. The legislation was approved by Finnish parliament and was based on European Union Copyright Directive, a law that each EU member state has to implement to their national legislations.

Disregard my previous complaint. In fact it DOES remove region coding, allowing me to play French DVDs in my PC. What it doesn't do is convert PAL to NTSC, and that was my problem trying to play the resulting DVD on my TV-top player; but that's not something this software claims to do, so I should not have faulted it.
