I see censorship is alive and well on this site. I posted my negative experience with this prog a couple of weeks back...and now the post is mysteriously gone.

That said, I decided to give the prog another try again tonight. Same result as before. Records nothing. A totally useless piece of software.

I wonder how long this post will remain up...

I give it Excellent even though it doesn't handle SMIL using rtsp protocol. I tried a file from c-span in case anyone cares (most c-span files are rm, but I found one that was SMI).

Simply the best stream ripper out there, bar none. Very easy to set up with lots of choices that work with every stream I've thrown at it. VCR31 smfplus seems to be the most universal recorder in the package. Good job!

Many many strugling hours until i finally ripped my first stream. I started at 6 am as i came back from the dance club and was not willing to sleep, so i started to search how to save the radio one files and came up with this website, and best of all with StreamBox! At first glance it looked so difficult, as everybody had problems with one thing or another...i had difficulties too and a lot of them, but I read all information like three times that i could understand, and had problems with embeded player - took me another hour - and finally - i'm here giving up the five stars for this soft, though i spent almost 10 hours studying it. Very happy, at least for now:) and especially thanks to Veblin for answering all those questions, and newbies too for asking them :) peace and let the music flow!

Overall a great software package. This will handle most things you throw at it for making copies of streaming media. However, the only reason why I did not rate it a 5 is the it is rather complex to setup. Some new users might need some time to get up to speed on using it.

What i'd like to see is a software released as open source or at least freeware that is similar but improved for new users. Something like, you load it up, click the link in a web page(in both IE and Firefox), and it auto-determines what is needed to save a copy(without errors or being confused by long urls or website faking tricks). It would need to be able to capture streaming media that is embedded in a web page, as well as those that pop-up in java boxes.

I first got this suite of programs about 3 yrs ago and have used it constantly. It always delivers, is quite difficult to set up (well for me anyway...I'm no whizz kid. But it's well worth the hassle of setting it up. I've just done a pc reload and so lost the original...now I'm downloading the 2.o version and would recommend it, very highly.

It did the job fairly quickly without having to open any documentation. The UI could improve by having small tags under the buttons when the mouse hovers over a button. Certainly not a big deal.

Fantastic program, allows you to download any video and audio stream that you like, plus the ripper's great because it converts real audio files to nicer formats such as mp3, etc and is infact one of the best free audio ripping tools I've ever used.
this is especially great as it allows people on slow connections as it gives them the option to dowload streams that would normally not play for them.
and with all the streamed exclusive music now online ever music fan should have this.

I never leave feedback. It takes too long .... But, I will make an exception here. I travel - alot - and I like to listen to sermons. This gave me the opportunity to copy the streaming media link - save it to a file - and burn it to CD - all in a matter of seconds. The save is super fast, and it allows multiple streams. Awesome.

Very good piece of software, caps nearly anything, really simple once you work out how to use it - but another program is needed (eg tmpeg) to convert to mpegs as you cant skip in the video files streambox gives out
