Bidirectional Prediction

With regard to video compression, bidirectional prediction is a system that allows a decoder to get information from frames that are forward in the video stream, instead of just previously decompressed frames. There are advantages to this feature, such as avoiding large spikes in the data rate due to sudden scene changes. While encoding video that will need bidirectional prediction, the process may time some time longer.
