BISS

The Basic Interoperable Scrambling System, or BISS, was developed by a consortium of hardware manufacturers in conjunction with the European Broadcasting Union. BISS employs the use of a 12 digit session key agreed on prior to transmission by the broadcasting and receiving party. It protects digital broadcast video content from users who are not authozied to view it. While it works fine in operation, it is considered a very unsafe, compromised system nowadays.
