CableLabs

Cablelabs refers to Cable Television Laboratories, Inc., a non-profit organization for research and development dedicated to pursuing cable telecommunications technologies. It serves the industry by researching and identifying innovative broadband technologies, authoring specifications, conducting certification and qualification testing of products and disseminating information. It is Governed by a board of directors appointed or elected by member companies and also has a Executive Committee and a Technical Advisory Committee.

CableLabs keeps the interests of consumers in mind when dealing with the television industry. It strives to enable interoperability among different cable systems, facilitate retail availability of cable modems and advanced services and providing a uniquely broad view of the industry.
