Low Frequency Effects Channel(synonyms: LFE)In modern home theaters it's common to find subwoofers used. Surround sound stored on DVD or other home video formats may include a special stream intended specifically for a subwoofer. This channel is called a Low Frequency Effects (or LFE) Channel, but may also be referred to as a .1 channel because of format naming conventions.
