MP3+GMP3+G is not a real standard, but its become a "de facto" standard for karaoke files when played with computers. Essentially, MP3+G is a combination of two files -- one is a regular MP3 audio track, while the other one is a CDG file, typically ripped from a CD+G disc. The "+G" part provides the graphical content for the playback, which in most cases means the lyrics of the song.
Virtually all computer-based karaoke playback tools support MP3+G.

I have been doing karaokes now for around 11 years and only last year upgraded to running a laptop based setup.
DO IT!
The days of lugging around a huge case of discs and stacks of equiptment are SOOO gone.
There is loads of good software to convert your current collection into MP3+G format (search on google).

Karamp3 sounds good but what happens when the music on those discs goes out of date? where can you find new MP3+G songs very cheap?

I am really interested in doing this. However, I am getting, what I am going to call, computer noise from my amp. The only option I have is a patch cable from the headphone jack of the laptop to my amp. I am getting a lot of hard drive noise and typical computer processing noise. Is there a way to output audio from a usb port or is there a way to filter the computer noise coming from the head phone jack? I thought it was maybe the amp that I was using, but it does the same thing on my home stereo. I tried using my sony psp for karaoke and it worked great, but the screen was a bit small. Does anyone have any ideas?
