Seedbox

A Seedbox is a private dedicated server used for uploading and downloading of digital files. Seedboxes generally make use of BitTorrent protocols for uploading and downloading, however they have also been used within the eDonkey2000 networks. A seedbox connects to high bandwidth networks often supporting 100 megabits or more in speed. Files are then downloaded to a seedbox from other BitTorrent users and can then be downloaded at higher speeds via common protocols such as http, ftp, sftp and rsync.

A seedbox is operating system independent in that it can run on either Windows, Macintosh or Linux. These seedboxes are accessed through remote desktop protocols and allow for remote administration. These seedboxes on high speed networks generally can upload very large files in minimal amounts of time. A 1Gb file can take less than five minutes to download and can be uploaded to other users in the same amount of time, creating a 1:1 share ratio. This ability to transfer files quickly is the main attraction to using a seedbox.

Other reasons why a seedbox could be employed is to battle ISP Packet and traffic shaping which they use to sniff out P2P traffic and essentially limit bandwidth to BitTorrent protocols. A seedbox works independently of BitTorrent protocols, thereby slips past the ISP filtering while at the same time frees up home user bandwidth by now taxing the home connection with upload and download traffic. Additionally, many BitTorrent sites require a share ratio over a certain percentage. Since using a seedbox can allow for a quick 1:1 ratio, this remains a nice option for those wanting to keep their ratios in check.

Myseedbox closed without warning us (they probably didn't pay their bills), Santrex is very sloooooow and not as stable as they claim and Seedlayer quit the seedbox business. Currently using jmhservices.com... very good but not cheap.

hi guys santrex.net seedboxes are pretty good!! i've been getting 8 megabytes per second upload speed and 10 megabytes per second download speed, i am totally shocked, as my previous seedbox host (torrentswift) never went this fast. I will stick with santrex forever! I hope I helped you guys in choosing your seedbox. -Zeus

i tried some providers like seedboxworld (wich capped me to 5mbit!!!) , and never got the speeds i am getting with seedhost.net !!! , very recommended.

I got 2 seedboxes with Santrex.net one in France other in Germany, the guys just got Netherlands to offer 2 weeks ago and I am impressed of the speeds in the three boxes I hit high speeds most of the times, I can't wait for another location :p

Dediseedbox.com has just lost my business. They now tell you what torrent sites you can connect to. I would seriously discourage anyone from using them.

Joglaze its common practice for seedbox providers to block public trackers like the piratebay, mininova and demonoid. If they did not block these public trackers they would be bombarded with DMCA notices and there datacenter would shut them down immediately without refunding there money. For that reason I would be very surprised to see a seedbox provider allowing public trackers.

http://dediseedbox.com is shit. Nothing but problems with them. Their support is shit. Been waiting over 12 hours for a reply. Keep getting {"build":"0","error":"SHELL: cURL error: couldn't connect to host (7)"} when I try to log in to my account. Stay away.
