Cue Sheet

(synonyms: Cue,cue file)

A Cue Sheet, otherwise known as simply a Cue file or Cue, is the metadata file which plainly describes the tracks of a CD or a DVD. A cut sheet is a text file and will have a .cue extension.

The cue sheet was originally created by CDRWIN but is now supported by many Authoring applications and most good media players.

When talking about audio CDs, a cue sheet will show all the titles and performers on the disc as well as the length of each Track and other specifications. MP3, WAV and BIN files are the most normally used formats for this audio. Cue sheets become even more important for uncut one file recordings, usually done with live sets.
