PSfreedom is a "Open Source PS Jailbreak" solution. It is a software-based solution meant to be used with compatible devices that can connect to the PlayStation 3 console. PSfreedom allows for the same functionality as the PS Jailbreak USB dongle for the PlayStation 3 console does.

PSfreedom has been ported for use with many devices, such as a Nokia N900, Palm Pre, HTC Desire and Samsung Galaxy S. While PS Jailbreak is illegal at least in Australia and the subject of litigation in other countries, PSfreedom is a software solution ported to many consumer devices available legally on the market while it offers the same functionality as the PS Jailbreak dongle (on firmware 3.41 or lower).
