Time Shifting

In digital entertainment, Time Shifting refers to the process of being able to choose when to watch television programming despite it being on a fixed schedule (or can refer to whole new systems that simply allow video on demand). The use of a DVR, like a TiVo, to record prime time TV shows and watch them whenever suits is an example of Time Shifting. While it is done already in millions of homes, it has caused controversy in the past with content providers and broadcasters over advertising and copyright issues.
