FAST

FAST stands for the Federation Against Software Theft.

It is a non-profit organization operating in the UK. Its task is to fight about the use of pirated software on behalf of the industry in the UK, being the first software anti-piracy group of its kind when it was founded in 1984.

FAST advises the UK government on copyright issues, lobbying for measures against piracy, and also prosecutes organizations and individuals for copyright infringement offenses on behalf of all of its members.

The group has been historically successful in lobbying government to change copyright laws. It won amendments to the Copyright Act 1956, resulting in software being recognized as a literary work.

FAST now operates with Investors in Software (IiS) under one name, FAST IiS.
